Olibanum: Trio Ramberget | Malmö Konstmuseum

Acoustic ambient with dreamlike textures and dark forest tarns

You don’t know how long you’ve wandered down these unmarked paths, but suddenly the forest ends — and there it is. The tarn. The late-summer night hangs heavy over the treetops, everything is perfectly still. The surface, smooth as quicksilver, barely ripples as your body slips beneath it. Cold, yet soft as silk. Numbingly black. No bottom, no sky — as perilous as it is peaceful. Muffled tones rise from the moss around the water’s edge, soon joined by shimmering sounds from dew and mist. A lullaby, just for you.

Trio Ramberget navigates the space between ambient and free improvisation. Formed in 2016, they have since developed a distinct acoustic expression that is exploratory yet never tentative, marked by a presence that speaks to deep musical intuition. The trio has gained international attention and has also composed music for film, dance, and documentary. In 2024, they released the acclaimed album Mirror Variations in collaboration with pianist and composer Matti Bye. In 2025, the collaboration continues with new film scores and upcoming trio recordings.

Trio Ramberget consists of:
Gustav Davidsson – Trombone
Johanna Ekholm – Double Bass
Pelle Westlin – Bass Clarinet

About Olibanum:
The concert series Olibanum weaves together classical expressions with contemporary experimental music and is done in collaboration with the Malmö Art Museum. Olibanum is a fragrant resin that for thousands of years has been a precious and sought-after ingredient in incense – especially in ecclesiastical contexts. This so-called pure incense is believed to contribute to deeper breathing, calm, and self-esteem.

The concert is included in the entrance fee to Malmö Art Museum and Malmöhus Castle, on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors open at approximately 14:30.
